Melissa Etheridge's interest in music began very early when she picked up her first guitar at age 8. She was only a teenager when she began playing piano and guitar in various cover bands in Kansas. Her career really took off after relocating to Los Angeles, where she signed to Island Records in 1986. Throughout her career, she has won one Academy Award, two Grammy awards from 15 nominations and various other awards. Melissa has released 11 albums with the latest Fearless Love released earlier this year.
