Main: The ZBS Radio Hour: Two New Adventures!

Join us today on thap gump at 11am and 7pm Pacific Time (7pm and 3am in the UK) on thap gump's Main Stream for the start of two new adventures from our friends at the ZBS Foundation.

At the top of the hour we join Jack Flanders in The Mystery of Jaguar Reef.  Jack investigates a puzzling case of personality change and soon finds himself scuba-diving into a dilemma off the shores of Belize. Where did this mysterious pirate wreck come from? Is Jack really a pawn in a cosmic chess game? And why does everyone around him seem to be "Walk-ins", except (perhaps) Captain Coco, his local liaison? Pulsing festival rhythms, a dose of potent "Viper Rum" - and the pirate ship ascends into the tropical night sky. Jack is suddenly at the helm suspecting that some kind of alien plot is afloat. And so it is...

Then at half-past the hour we join Ruby the Galactic Gumshoe in Far Flung Farouk. She's back! In fact, the whole gang is back: the feisty archaeologist, T.J. Teru; the cool & collected techie, And/Or; and the toothy grinning little, Rodent Kapoor... 'er Rodant Kapoor. The gang returns to the planet of Illuboo Roi, a planet inhabited by wise & waddley, pear-shaped peoples.

Far Flung Farouk is a desert kingdom that few Illuboos have ever seen, so it is a great honor for Teru being invited by Prince Hee Haw Bop to be the first to open the forbidden tombs of the ancient Phar-Oops of Far Farouk. Of course, the Prince fails to mention the Black Curse of the Phar-Oops, a curse created by Phar-Oop the 14th half-crazed Court Jester, Wop Wop Bop. Well, curses never stopped Ruby - and so in they go, deep beneath the circular mountain kingdom of Far Farouk, searching for ancient artifacts & royal knickknacks. What they discover are the gigantic sarcophagi of all fourteen Phar-Oops, including their round, rolling mummies and of course, they all discover, the dreaded Black Curse! Eeee!Source URL: http://idontwanttobeanythingotherthanme.blogspot.com/search/label/ZBS%20Foundation

ZBS Radio Hour presents... Two Minute Film Noir

Today on the ZBS Radio Hour - 11am and 7pm Pacific time (that's 7pm and 3am in the UK) - we have a special treat for you: a collection of stories from the ZBS collection Two Minute Film Noir.

Last week we finished the latest Jack Flanders adventure, Return to Inverness. We'll be starting a new Jack Flanders series soon, but this week we thought you might like something different to accompany the final part of Ruby 6 that airs at the bottom of the hour today.

Two Minute Film Noir starts the ZBS Radio Hour today. It's a series of two-minute stories based on noir characters and images. These are stories about gangsters, bimbos, cons, cops, lovers, losers, platinum blondes, mink coats, high heels, and neon signs reflecting on rain-slicked streets. By rights, they fit right into the style of our Dieselpunk stream, and if you like them, please tell us, as we are considering running them on a regular basis there.

There are a large number of these stories, performed by the “usual suspects,” that is, the cast from the Ruby series. And they had great fun doing these film noir characters.

    Some of the Stories
Barking Guns & Dancing Dolls. An investor in a pro-Mafia musical does not like the dance number entitled, “Cement Sneakers.” In Say “So Long” to Shangri-la, an angel decides to take a walk on the wild side. Johnny Gonzalez, LPI (Latino Private Eye), solves a crime before it happens in, The Short Siesta. What if you were given everything you asked for, wouldn’t life be grand? Not necessarily, as Joey finds out in, All Green Lights to Hell. A hat check girl dreams of all the ways she’ll get even in, A Big Sack of Wind. Wherever you live, you’re being watched in, Nightmare on Stool Pigeon Street. A man risks his life for a jelly donut in, Dying for a Cup of Joe. Four Fingers Luigi draws the line in, The Fifth Finger. Any guy will gladly give up his life for her, and no wonder, she is Angelina, Angel of Death. Latino private eye, Johnny Gonzalez returns for, The Long Night of the Hot Chorizo.

From the Library: 60 Years of English Folk

Today Elrik Merlin surveys the world of classic English folk music from the last 60 years or so, with artists ranging from the Fairports, Pentangle, and the Incredible String Band to current artists like Kate Rusby. However the emphasis is largely on earlier and traditional material. "You'll hear a lot of music from the classic days of the 1970s folk revival today," he says. "There are even some seasonal references (no, I don't mean 14 versions of Tam Lin. There are only about five). And as usual I've thrown in a few antiques & curios, such as folk interpretations of Beatles songs."

Then don't forget to tune in at 11am and 7pm Pacific (6pm and 2am in the UK this week only as transatlantic clocks are out of sync until tomorrow) for the ZBS Radio Hour. We'll be airing the final episode of Ruby 3: The Invisible World and before that the latest instalment of Jack Flanders' adventure Dreams of Rio.
