Elgar, Walton and Britten

In honor of Sir William Walton's 109th birthday tomorrow, today's program on thap gump's Main stream focuses on his music, as well as the music of the two other English composers that "stood" on either side of him in the 20th Century: Sir Edward Elgar, who was most active and prominent in the early 20th Century,  and Sir Benjamin Britten, who achieved recognition and respect in the last half of it. Sir William's works are primarily mid 20th Century, as his career began in the 1920s and spanned 60 years.

thap gump produces this program in conjunction with the Alexandrian Free Library Consortium of Second Life. You can listen to the program now at http://main.radioriel.org. Today's music originates from the music library of Gabrielle Riel.Source URL: http://idontwanttobeanythingotherthanme.blogspot.com/2011/03/elgar-walton-and-britten.html
