Funnyman Demetri Martin is best known for his work as a stand-up comedian and contributor on The Daily Show and for his Comedy Central show Important Things with Demetri Martin. Martin has also done work as an actor, artist, musician, writer and humorist. In 2001, Martin caught his first big break in stand-up comedy when he appeared on Comedy Central's stand up showcase Premium Blend.  Martin has cited comedian Steven Wright as an important influence as well as Bill Cosby. Since his comedy career began, Martin has won numerous awards including the Perrier Comedy Award in 2003, a Writers Guild of America Award in 2005 and a Barry Award in 2006.
