From the Library: Bach and the Masters of the Baroque

Today's programme on our Main Stream features music from the Baroque era and while it features the music of J S Bach, it also includes many other composers of the period, both well-known and seldom-heard. So in amongst the famous works today, we hope you'll hear some music you've never heard before.

Listeners may find it strange to learn that during his lifetime Bach was thought somewhat old-fashioned and behind the times, as other composers adopted more decorated rococo styles. Today, of course, it's a different matter and there is a vast library of recordings of his work available, a selection of which we will hear during the programme.

Then at 7pm and 3am UK time (11am and 7pm Pacific) join us for the ZBS Radio Hour (see separate entry).
Today's programme is presented by Elrik Merlin and produced by thap gump in conjunction with our friends at the Alexandrian Free Library Consortium of Second Life. You can listen to the programme in-world now at http://main.radioriel.org, or simply click here to start your player, if your browser is configured to do so.
