From the Library: Happy Birthday Leonard Bernstein!

Music can name the unnameable and communicate the unknowable. ~ Leonard Bernstein

Today on thap gump's Main stream, we celebrate the birthday of American composer Leonard Bernstein, who was born on August 25, 1918.  The program features his work as both a composer and a conductor of other composers' works.  It also includes music from other prominent 20th Century American composers such as Samuel Barber, and Bernstein's mentor and friend Aaron Copland.  Happy Birthday Lenny!

thap gump produces this program in conjunction with the Alexandrian Free Library Consortium of Second Life. You can listen to the program now at http://main.radioriel.org. Today's music originates from the music library of Gabrielle Riel.

For more information on the Alexandrian Free Library, current exhibits and the work of Consortium members in general, please visit the Alexandrian Free Library website, or one of their branches in-world.Source URL: http://idontwanttobeanythingotherthanme.blogspot.com/2010/08/from-library-happy-birthday-leonard.html
