Rain

For the first time in almost 40 years, the US Army Corps of Engineers opened a floodgate yesterday on the Mississippi River in order to save cities further down the river, such as New Orleans and Baton Rouge, Louisiana, from the inevitability of dangerous and damaging flooding. Instead, the bayous of Louisiana will make the sacrifice as flood waters flow through them.

The rain continues to come down over the North American continent, and so today's program on thap gump's Main stream is the music of rain, storms and floods. You will hear music of all styles and genres as thap gump pays musical tribute to the people all over North America whom this rain and flooding has affected.

We are also simulcasting this program on thap gump New Toulouse. There will also be rain in the Estate of New Toulouse this morning, and the waters will rise in New Toulouse Bayou and New Toulouse Algiers to show the people of Cajun Country that we are sending them our prayers at this time.

thap gump produces this program in conjunction with the Alexandrian Free Library Consortium of Second Life. You can listen to the program now at http://main.radioriel.org. Today's music originates from the music library of Gabrielle Riel.Source URL: http://idontwanttobeanythingotherthanme.blogspot.com/2011/05/rain.html
